Students and staff hold up a peace sign in their cafeteriaIn conjunction with the U.N’s International Day of Peace, and in anticipation of the October 22 D60 Community Peace Summit at the Pueblo Convention Center, the Rattlers of Belmont Elementary School made colorful and uplifting pinwheels, which were then attached to hallway lighting fixtures throughout the building.
This week, the Rattlers are taking part in the Sandy Hook Promise-created Hello Week, a national call-to-action event dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth.
On Wednesday, designated as “Wear Green Day” by the Sandy Hook Promise, Rattlers dressed accordingly and also added a “compliment link” for the school’s paper chain.
Other Hello Week events included days set aside for “Say hello/hey,” “tip your hat,” and the wearing of the school colors of yellow and/or blue (with Pink Socks, of course.)
