A first for District 60, the Computer Science Convention (CSCon) Family Event in the East High School Media Center drew an inquisitive collective of youngsters eager to explore the exciting world of all things technology-related.
A first for District 60, the Computer Science Convention (CSCon) Family Event in the East High School Media Center drew an inquisitive collective of youngsters eager to explore the exciting world of all things technology-related.In a fun and interactive manner, the goal of CSCon was to increase participation of students in computer science education activities. To assist in this effort, the District welcomed the involvement of community leaders and partners – Google, MindSpark Learning, Collins Aerospace, Quantum Research, US Air Force Academy, CSU-Pueblo – who worked with the scholars at the various stations while also providing insight into the many career options available in the field.
Participants engaged in interactive stations involving holograms, coding, binary code application, digital citizenship, games, and programmable robots, which were maneuvered through obstacle courses and even water.
Scholars who visited each station received a “passport stamp,” with a complete card making them eligible for prizes.
A complement to the District’s Hour of Code, the Convention saw a host of scholars honored for their work on coding, digital design and robotics.
