HEATON WELCOMES INCOMING SIXTH GRADERS

An 8th-grade student holds up a blue sign in a hallwayThe next generation of Heaton Hawks in the form of current fifth graders, along with their families, were welcomed to the East Side/Belmont school Thursday by Principal Jayme Cardinal, her staff and student leaders.

The Fifth Grade Information Night allowed the Heaton Middle School community to showcase the vocal and instrumental music program that includes traditional band instruments and stringed instruments, as well as Drama, Tech Set Design, Piano, Robotics, and Engineering.

The school's WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Leaders served as hosts and hostesses, answering questions and leading tours of the school.“At Heaton, we call ourselves the Triple Threat: we are the best at having strong academics, arts and athletic programs,” Principal Cardinal explained. “We are a Colorado Performance School and an AVID National Demonstration School.

“As a National AVID Demonstration School, we are able to showcase those strategies that prepare students for high school and beyond, through writing, reading, inquiry and collaboration.”
