BULLS AND COLTS JOIN YEARLINGS FOR A DAY OF EXPLORING

Pueblo Bulls players open program materials needed to teach financial litteracy classes to studentsFor the young leaders of Sunset Park Elementary School, a Leadership in Me Lighthouse School, a visit from members of the Pueblo Bulls Junior Hockey Club and student leaders from South High School helped the Yearlings learn some important life lessons.

Through a partnership with Junior Achievement, the Bulls and Colts helped facilitate the popular program JA in a Day, which stresses the importance of financial literacy and civic duty.

Through JA BizTown, the Yearlings were transported to a simulated city, where they were tasked with operating banks, managing restaurants, writing checks, and voting for mayor. The exercise is designed to bridge what the Yearlings learn in school and the real world.

Later in the day, the Yearlings had the opportunity to explore their passions and “find their voice,” in the words of Principal John Hull, through a series of stations that included botany, sports, yearbook, coding, crafting, cooking/baking, karaoke, painting, origami, Lego building and more.
