STUDENT LEADERS HELP FEED THE LESS FORTUNATE
Once again, 400 underprivileged families will have a robust Thanksgiving meal thanks to the generosity of the community and the efforts of student leaders from our five high schools.
Saturday morning at St. Joseph Hall in the Grove, Mr. Chris Pena once again oversaw the assembly and distribution of 400 parcels to grateful recipients through the annual Tom and Louie’s Cupboard holiday food drive.
Tom and Louie's Cupboard was instituted in memory of Catholic priests Thomas Scheets and Louis Stovik, who like the D60 student leaders, were generous in their concern for the less fortunate.
Wildcats, Eagles, Bulldogs, Colts and Pilots joined colleagues from Pueblo West and County, and adult volunteers, in distributing the parcels in a drive-through format.
Recipients received a turkey, potatoes and bread, pie and all the fixings that come with a full Thanksgiving dinner.
Feeder schools collected canned and other goods, which were handed over to the high school student leaders for placement in the parcels.
"Everything you see here was donated," Mr. Pena said of the vast piles of food that comprised the parcels.
