DISTRICT STUDENTS TO COME TOGETHER FOR PEACE

Bradford staff members smile at the 2019 Peace SummitAt 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Prairie Avenue in front of the Southwest Motors Events Center will be filled with smiling District 60 students holding up pro-peace and pro-community signs as motorists pass by.

This joyful assembly will serve as the culmination of the D60 Community Peace Summit, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Southwest Motors Events Center.

Themed "Make Pueblo A Greater Place Together," this summit is designed to foster peace within the District's student body and network of schools and engage the community and its families in the prevention of bullying and the promotion of inclusiveness.

The day will begin at 10 a.m. with a welcome from Superintendent Charlotte Macaluso, followed by performances from the Elementary School Choir, the Pueblo Academy of Arts Cheer Team, the Central Jazz Band, the South Pepperettes dance team, and a finale featuring choir members from Fountain and Corwin International Magnet Schools.

Students from individual schools will showcase projects designed around this theme. There will be community partner giveaways, and visits with First Responders outside the arena.

Community partners supporting the event include Target Distribution Center, Pueblo Chamber of Commerce, Pueblo Baseball Mill, Health Solutions, Modern Woodman, Pueblo Poverty Foundation, Power Credit Union, the Pueblo City-County Library District, Sunwest Credit Union, Boys and Girls Clubs of Pueblo County and Habitat for Humanity.

Free T-shirts and concessions will be available.
