ON TEACH FOR AMERICA

“As it happens, I was actually extremely hesitant to join Teach for America initially. Ultimately and obviously, I did elect to join TFA as I believe in the same mission and vision that TFA strives for. I do not believe it is possible to understate the necessity of a meaningful, thorough, and equitable education for all. A better world starts in the classroom and I'm honored to be a part of that.

“Plus, I love school and I love to learn. Once a nerd, always a nerd.”

BENEFIT OF LIFE EXPERIENCES

“I grew up in the city of Minneapolis, attending public school from first grade through high school. I'm proud to be a product of the public education system, and I'm even more proud to have been molded by the amazing teachers I had growing up. The care, kindness, and steadiness that they extended to me is what I hope I can extend to my students.

“From my English teacher Ms. Mohammud, who taught me to love to read, to my science teacher Ms. Weir, who taught me to love science, I am only here because of them.”

IMPRESSION OF PUEBLO

“I have seen incredible grace, empathy, and kindness here. Everything about me, including my midwestern accent, may scream outsider, but that has not stopped anyone from Pueblo from extending warmth to me.”

FROM RONCALLI PRINCIPAL MIKE CSERVENAK

“Mr. Opdahl has brought a genuine enthusiasm to his Science role and joyfully took on teaching a couple sections of Intro to Computer Science as part of our Amazon Future Engineer Program. He strives to build relationships with students and seeks feedback on his craft.”
