WANTED: MEMBERS OF THE SUN CITY BAND

Marching band members hold their instruments at attention during practiceMusicians: if you are in, or will be in, the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, and have been in your school's band for at least a year, you are eligible to be part of the Sun City Band.

Sun City Band is an all-Pueblo, award-winning, marching band sponsored by Pueblo Parks and Recreation in cooperation with District 60 and Pueblo County School District #70. For more than 30 years, longtime educator and band director Mark Emery has served as director.

Registration is now open, through July 2. There is a $25 registration fee.

Rehearsals will be held at Mineral Palace Park beginning in mid-July, with a showcase performance the annual Colorado State Fair Parade (August 24).

Sun City Band also performs throughout the state, including stops at Elitch Gardens, the Carnation Festival Parade in Wheatridge, the Western Welcome Parade in Littleton, and the Arkansas Valley Fair Parade in Rocky Ford.

There will be parental meeting at 7 p.m. July 24 at the Pavilion of City Park.
