In January, 40 middle schoolers participated in the 46th Pueblo School District 60 Spelling Bee at Centennial High School.
These top 6 spellers from the D60 Bee were eligible to compete in the Denver Post 83rd Annual Colorado State Spelling Bee, first completing a written portion of the State Bee through the Scripp’s National Spelling Bee’s online platform.
During its April meeting, the D60 Board of Education recognized this year's local finalists and state qualifiers:
- Zackary Bays, Roncalli STEM Academy, local champion and 19th at state.
- Landen Frison, Corwin International Magnet School, tied for 14th at state.
- Amanda Hutchison, PSAS Fulton Heights (Top 3 locally)
- Isaac Vigil, PAA (Top 3 locally)
- Jack Centner, Corwin International Magnet School
- Macie Monack , PSAS Fulton Heights
