GRADES 1-8 ONLINE SCHOOL APPROVED BY THE STATE
The district’s latest educational offering, an Online School for Grades 1-8, has been approved by the Colorado Department of Education.
So announced Assistant Superintendent Suzanne Morey during Tuesday’s regular meeting of the D60 Board of Education.
“That was great news,” said Assistant Superintendent Suzanne Morey of CDE’s approval. “We’re very excited about that.”
Enrollment for the Online School is open through June 30 only.

Under Principal Stephanie Markert, the school is slated to open in the fall. Originally, the Online School was to educate students in Kindergarten through the 12th Grade. But as Dutch Clark Digital and the Paragon Learning Center currently offer flexible remote learning plans for high schoolers, the new Online School’s focus will be on elementary and middle school students who have expressed an interest in learning from home.
“We’ve been looking closely at the interest and enrollment numbers,” Assistant Superintendent Morey told the board. “We’ve seen the most interest at the elementary and middle school levels, and a little bit less at the high school levels. And so we are going to be moving forward in the 2021-22 school year with the Online School for Grades 1 through 8.”
For those high school families who registered for the D60 Online School, they will be contacted by Rich Mestas, Principal of Dutch Clark Digital at Paragon, to present individualized options available through those institutions.
“Mr. Mestas believes his program will be able to accommodate the needs of the high school students who are interested in an online learning venture,” Assistant Superintendent Morey continued.
Board Members Judge Dennis Maes and Tommy Farrell expressed confidence in Principal Mestas and his team’s ability to meet the needs of those students who will continue their education online.
