On Monday, the scholars of Minnequa Elementary School and D60 Columbian Elementary were paid a visit by the Castle Rock resident, who shared stories of her journey to the crown, her pet bunny Biscuit and her snazzy footwear, the meaning of each point on her crown -- Scholarship, Style, Service, and Success -- and other fun facts.

She also read from her favorite book, "Who You Were Made to Be," while encouraging the scholars to work hard and dream big.

Several of Miss Colorado's newest fans took home autographed photo placards.

Miss Colorado's visit served as a precursor to Tuesday's assemblies to recognize winners in the annual Vocabulary Challenge.
