Red graphic with white letters saying the word FACTThe spreading of false information and distorted facts through social media postings continues to be a problem, not only for the District but for the community itself.

Although social media can be a useful outlet, using it to post and spread rumors and unfounded allegations can cause an untold amount of damage, especially within the realm of education. Therefore, it is important to exercise due diligence when a certain claim is stated as factual. Contributing to a discussion without looking into the facts of an issue is to fuel the fires of discontent and dishonesty.

It’s a good practice to never accept on face value “facts” posted on social media pages of friends and associates. Rather, seek out accurate sources of information before weighing in on a discussion.
