To celebrate the joys and benefits of being a bibliophile, scholars across the district today got an early start on Read Across America Day.
As the entire month of March is dedicated to reading, the National Education Association aims to encourage reading and educate people about its benefits, especially among children and young adults.
To demonstrate their love of reading, Superintendent Charlotte Macaluso and members of the D60 Leadership Team joined District scholars and school board members, first responders and peace officers, business leaders, government officials, members of the Pueblo Bulls hockey team, community dignitaries and other notables in reading books to the children and also relaying the benefits that come with reading.
At South Park Elementary, South High student leaders pulled “double duty,” engaging with the Panthers in the JA in a Day program before reading to them.
Baca Elementary hosted a “Masked Reader” event, which challenged the Roadrunners to guess the voice behind an assortment of animal masks.
Many schools hosted themed events to add some flavor and spark to this important day of fun and literacy.
