NEW HOME OF BOBCAT GETS FINAL BEAM

A large group of Franklin students with their hands above their head clappingFranklin School of Innovation, the "Jewel of Belmont," is getting a brand new shine in the form of a state-of-the-art school that will serve Bobcats and the community for decades to come.

On Thursday, the final steel beam was put in place by members of the Nunn Construction team while the enthusiastic young Bobcats celebrated the mid-way point of the construction process.

This "topping out" ceremony is the second of the week and fourth in the District, with all new construction funded through the 2019 bond.

Superintendent Charlotte Macaluso, District Leadership and members of the D60 Board of Education joined with Franklin Principal Dana DiTomaso-Junkman and her staff as the green beam -- draped with an American flag and signed by Bobcats, their educators and District dignitaries -- was secured into place.

Like Sunset Park Elementary, which saw its final beam placed Wednesday, Franklin is on schedule to open for business by the start of the 2023-24 school year.
