‘THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL’ OPENS WEDNESDAY AT CENTENNIAL

A joint production involving South and Centennial High School Performing Arts, in conjunction with Colorado State University Pueblo, “SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical” will begin its four-day run Wednesday in the Centennial Auditorium.

Based on the Nickelodeon animated television series, the musical made its world premiere in June 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago. Following a month of previews, the musical opened on Broadway in December 2017.

When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up.

The songs include “Bikini Bottom Day,” “BFF,” “When the Going Gets Tough,” “Daddy Knows Best” and “Hero is My Middle Name.”

In the lead role of SpongeBob is Mark Pacheco, with support from the following:

The cast is under the direction of Centennial’s Leigh Kite, South’s Wayne Genova and CSU Pueblo’s Dr. Jennifer Bruton. Media staff from CSU Pueblo are assisting with the sound.

Tickets are $10 for children and seniors and $15 for adults. The curtain rises at 7 p.m. each evening on April 3-6.
