BESSEMER ACADEMY SCHOLARS CLOSE OUT YEAR WITH PROJECT-BASED LEARNING DISPLAY

Two Bessemer students smile for a photoThrough the month of May, Bessemer Academy K-5 students engaged in a variety of Project-Based Learning units that incorporated reading, math, writing, social studies and science.

Kindergarteners focused on animals and their habitats; first graders visually created their own country; second graders engaged in a Market Day, to learn the ins-and-outs of entrepreneurship and commerce; third and fourth graders explored careers, with a rotation of guest speakers in a variety of fields visiting the school; and finally, fifth graders explored the cosmos through a unit entitled Patterns in the Universe.

To complement their displays of constellations, fifth graders designed a T-shirt, which was screen-printed right at the school.

On Tuesday, Bessemer Academy hosted visitors, eager to learn about the projects from their young creators.
