Formulated with input from the community through a survey, and finalized by a 20-member stakeholder committee, the three names are the Nettie S. Freed Expeditionary K-8, Steel City Expeditionary K-8, and Pioneer Expeditionary K-8.

NEW EAST, CENTENNIAL WILL HOST SCHOOL’S HISTORY, LEGACY
With great respect to the vibrant traditions that characterize these two schools – as well as alumni’s desire to see that history preserved – great care was taken during the design process to ensure the new buildings would have ample space in which to showcase those elements that currently line the walls and fill displays in the current schools’ hallways and gymnasiums.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO SERVE ON BOND ADVISORY COMMITTEE
This 7- to 9-member Committee serves in an advisory capacity, monitoring the expenditure of funds approved by taxpayers through the 2019 bond and then reporting the findings to the D60 Board of Education. This critical service of ensuring that the funds are being spent as directed by the bond ballot language is intended to provide a high level of accountability to the citizen taxpayers of the District.

As a result of extra premiums secured through the bond sale, cost-savings from favorable bids, and prudent construction management, a new K-8 school on the 14-acre property of the recently demolished Heroes K-8 Academy will be built.

80 percent of the Pueblo contractors who submitted bids are going to be part of the team: specifically on some of the major trades like electrical, mechanical, earthwork, glazing, and metal paneling.
