With representatives of GE Johnson, H.W. Houston Construction and HGF Architects serving as the site guides, members of the D60 Leadership Team joined Board of Education members Vice President Tommy Farrell, and Barb Clementi and Dr. Kathy DeNiro, for an inside look at the future of education.

DISTRICT DUO KEEP BOND PROJECTS ON TRACK AND ON BUDGET

Mr. Horner and Mr. Lawson have, in conjunction with District leadership, construction team partners and others, not only fulfilled those duties but are giving taxpayers a lot more “bang for their buck.”

BOND PROCEEDS TRANSFORMING THE DISTRICT

With the construction of new East and Centennial high schools at the midway point, and with new Sunset Park and Franklin builds underway, the 2019 bond approved by voters continues to transform the District.

POTENTIAL NAMES FOR NEW EXPEDITIONARY SCHOOL PRESENTED

Formulated with input from the community through a survey, and finalized by a 20-member stakeholder committee, the three names are the Nettie S. Freed Expeditionary K-8, Steel City Expeditionary K-8, and Pioneer Expeditionary K-8.

NEW EAST, CENTENNIAL WILL HOST SCHOOL’S HISTORY, LEGACY

With great respect to the vibrant traditions that characterize these two schools – as well as alumni’s desire to see that history preserved – great care was taken during the design process to ensure the new buildings would have ample space in which to showcase those elements that currently line the walls and fill displays in the current schools’ hallways and gymnasiums.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO SERVE ON BOND ADVISORY COMMITTEE

This 7- to 9-member Committee serves in an advisory capacity, monitoring the expenditure of funds approved by taxpayers through the 2019 bond and then reporting the findings to the D60 Board of Education. This critical service of ensuring that the funds are being spent as directed by the bond ballot language is intended to provide a high level of accountability to the citizen taxpayers of the District.

The major HVAC system improvements underway at PAA and South are full system replacements that will provide for new heating systems as well as air conditioning.

D60 is looking for two qualified candidates to fulfill roles as members of our Citizens' Bond Advisory Committee. All applicants must express, in no more than 100 words, an interest in serving, as well as relevant experience.

Voter-Approved Bond to Result in a Fifth New School for D60

As a result of extra premiums secured through the bond sale, cost-savings from favorable bids, and prudent construction management, a new K-8 school on the 14-acre property of the recently demolished Heroes K-8 Academy will be built.

Pueblo-Based Firms to Play Important Role in Building of New East, Centennial

80 percent of the Pueblo contractors who submitted bids are going to be part of the team: specifically on some of the major trades like electrical, mechanical, earthwork, glazing, and metal paneling.

Legacy of Former Freed Middle School Paves the Way for Future Opportunities

The property, which includes a football field/track, gazebo building and auxiliary gymnasium, will be retained by the district as a potential site for a new school.

District Living Up to Bond Project Promises and Ballot Language

After receiving an update, the D60 Citizens Bond Advisory Committee concurred that a review of relevant information and documents revealed that bond funds are being spent in the manner taxpayers were promised they would be.

District Moving Forward with New Sunset Park and Franklin Projects

BEST Grants awarded to replace the aging Sunset Park Elementary and Franklin School of Innovation. Bond money, coupled with BEST grants, will fund the projects.
