  • FEMA TO OFFER SCHOOL-BASED VACCINATION CLINICS

    Pueblo School District 60 is partnering with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to host school-based COVID-19 vaccination clinics. All clinics will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the exception of South, which is tentatively scheduled from 4-8 p.m.

  • East Senior Isaac Quintana Alvarez, A Star in the Ring and in the Classroom

    At East, Isaac has displayed similar championship qualities in Joe Terry’s AVID classroom. The lessons learned inside the ring have translated to the classroom, and vice versa. “East High School is known as an AVID School,” Mr. Terry said. “It’s a curriculum for that ‘middle-range student.’ We have programs for the gifted and talented, and we have programs for those who struggle academically. But there’s no program for those kids in the middle: that’s where AVID comes into play.”

  • Longtime District "Music Man" Continues to Impact Students in his Retirement

    After learning of the district’s participation in the Bringing Music to Life program – which encourages the donation of performance instruments to ensure that the love of music-making continues in schools – Mr. DeNiro and his wife Dr. Dorothy DeNiro, eagerly turned over 100 instruments, all in hard-shell cases, to Cindy Smith, the district’s Fine Arts Specialist.

  • A Golden Future is On the Way as Ground for New East High is Broken

    With heavy equipment, a gold and white balloon bouquet, a large-scale tapestry depicting the facility-to-be and a sign declaring “Thank You Pueblo” as a backdrop, an esteemed group that included Superintendent and East Alumnus Charlotte Macaluso, East Principal Andy Clementi – along with members of the Eagle Empire – and D60 school board members used their ceremonial shovels to dig into the dirt to officially kick off a construction process already underway in the large playing field to the west of the school.
