CORNHOLING FOR A GOOD CAUSE
For the second year, the turf of historic Dutch Clark Stadium hosted Cornhole at Dutch Clark Stadium, a fundraiser for the D60 Education Foundation. This year, the tournament featured a high school division, with tossers from Central, Dutch Clark Digital, East and South taking part.

EAST CATERING STUDENTS PUT PUEBLO CHILE TO GOOD USE
Coinciding with the annual Chile and Frijoles Festival in Downtown Pueblo, Southwest Foodservice Excellence and D60 Foodworks hosted the second D60 Chile Fest. The Fest is an opportunity for culinary arts students to design and then create dishes using Pueblo's signature product.

ALUMNI ROLL CALL EAST BASEBALL STANDOUT ALBERT SANDOVAL NOW WORKING WITH MAJOR LEAGUERS
A 2004 graduate of East who excelled in both high school and collegiate baseball, Albert is a Major League Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, assisting and creating prehab, lifting, conditioning, and nutrition programs for athletes within the Texas Rangers program.

2023 INITIAL PERFORMANCE FRAMEWORKS RELEASED: 11 SCHOOLS IN THE TOP TIER
The Colorado Department of Education recently released preliminary District and School Performance Frameworks based on assessment results and growth data. This initial data reveals that 11 schools occupy the top-tier Performance Framework: Fountain, Goodnight, Corwin, Haaff, Franklin, Irving, Bradford, South Park, Sunset Park, Minnequa and Morton.

ALUMNI ROLL CALL EAST EAGLE GARRETT BASKI WORKING IN THE ‘CLOUD’ FOR MICROSOFT
While attending East, Garrett Baski enjoyed playing the iconic video game “Smash Bros” in the band room, in between rehearsals for upcoming performances. In his IB Math and Science classes, Garrett developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills that complemented his experiences as a member of the Eagle band. That love of technology – married with the science-related acumen he acquired at East – is today serving Garrett well. He is a Seattle-based Microsoft Software Engineer, working on Azure, the company's cloud-computing technology.

CTE PROFESSIONALS ATTEND STATE CONFERENCE
Among the attendees for the three-day conference were District 60 representatives in administration and education, who participated in the conference in order to improve budgeting techniques and fundraising methods and bring home updates on best practices to the rest of the Pueblo CTE team.

NEW DUTCH CLARK STADIUM SAFETY/SECURITY FEATURES
In addition to the aesthetic upgrades to improve the look and appearance of Dutch Clark Stadium, a number of improvements have been made with an eye toward increased safety and ease of use of the facility. A new addition to the safety protocol will be the use of walk-through metal detectors at stadium entry points.

This year, more than 4,125 students applied to the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Only 152 applicants made the admission cut, with one being East Class of 2019 member Juan Aragon.

ALUMNI ROLL CALL EAGLE FREDDIE SMITH ON WAY TO MEDICAL SCHOOL
While an East Eagle, Freddie Smith found in the International Baccalaureate program the rigorous preparation he needed for his selected career path. “Since high school, I’ve known that I wanted to be a doctor,” Freddie said. “At that time, my aunt was diagnosed with stage four cancer and it led to my ultimate growth of curiosity for medicine. It was hard on my family and I wanted to be able to comprehend it all and help her.

ALUMNI ROLL CALL UCLA GRADUATE KAIN MEDRANO CONTINUES TO PUT PUEBLO EAST ON THE MAP
As a member of the UCLA Class of 2023, Kain earned a degree in African American Studies. With two years of eligibility remaining, Kain -- a 6-foot-3, 230-pound athlete originally recruited out of East as a safety and receiver -- will return to the Bruins in hopes of one day being drafted into the National Football League.
