District 60 Statement on Personal Device Policy

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Pueblo School District 60 will implement a new "bell-to-bell" personal device policy designed to maximize student engagement and minimize distractions during the instructional day. Under this policy, students will be required to power down and store personal electronic devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, headphones, and gaming devices, from the time school starts until school dismisses for the day. While students may continue to bring devices to school, devices must be powered off and out of sight throughout the entire school day, except in the event of a legitimate emergency.

This decision reflects the district's commitment to creating rigorous, engaging, creative, and collaborative learning environments and District 60 is committed to implementing the policy consistently, fairly, and equitably across all schools for all students.

In the coming weeks, families, students, and staff will receive clear guidance regarding expectations, and procedures, along with tips for limiting screen time and opportunities to engage in powerful in-person “analogue experiences” designed to help students forge meaningful connections with each other and with learning.
