Corwin again designated a Colorado Trailblazer School to Watch

For the fifth consecutive time, Corwin International Magnet School has been designated a Colorado Trailblazer School to Watch by the Colorado Association of Middle Level Education (CAMLE) in partnership with the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform.

This prestigious designation is awarded to middle schools that demonstrate excellence in academic achievement, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and strong organizational structures. To earn the honor, schools must complete a comprehensive written application aligned to 37 research-based criteria established by the National Forum.

Trained state review teams then conduct rigorous site visits to validate each school’s practices. During these visits, reviewers observe classroom instruction, interview students, staff, administrators, and families, and analyze achievement data, discipline trends, instructional quality, and evidence of student learning.

“The Colorado Association of Middle Level Education recognizes Corwin for challenging students to use their minds well, being sensitive to the unique developmental needs of early adolescence, and providing every student with a high-quality learning experience,” said Katie Gustafson, director of Colorado Schools to Watch.

Corwin is one of more than 100 schools nationwide that will be recognized at the National Schools to Watch Conference in June 2026 in Washington, D.C.

“Colorado’s 2026 Schools to Watch exemplify what is possible when schools are deeply committed to meeting the academic and developmental needs of every student,” Gustafson added. “These Schools to Watch create environments where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to thrive.”

Corwin’s designation as a Colorado School to Watch is granted for three years.
