  • Pueblo Academy of Arts is a Title I School

    What does that mean for me?
    It means that we receive Federal Funding (approximately $357,000 for the 2021-2022 school year) to support our students. Basically, Title I focuses on promoting school-wide reforms in high-poverty schools and ensuring students' access to scientifically-based instructional strategies and challenging academic content.


    How is that money spent?
    We use it to purchase technology for students to use, academic and art materials, professional development for our staff, and we are able to hire extra staff to support leadership skills and provide additional support for our students. 


    What else does it mean?
    It means that parents have the right to request information on teacher's qualifications including their state licensing criteria, their status, their certification, content areas, and the certifications of paraprofessionals, etc. 


    How can parents be involved?
    Parents can attend our Title I Nights, student performances, and participate in our Student-led conferences. Parents are always welcome to visit or volunteer at PAA (volunteers must pass a background check).  Parents can also have input into our School Unified Improvement Plan and our Title I Compact.  

    Parents Right To Know:

    Parents of all children in all Title I schools have the right to request and receive timely information on the professional qualifications of their children's classroom teachers. 

    • Whether the teacher has met state qualifying and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher is teaching;
    • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or another provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived;
    • The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, including the field of discipline of the certification or degree; and
    • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
