Unique. World-Class. High-achieving.
Those are just some of the words that describe Corwin International Magnet School, an International Baccalaureate School that is the only 4th-through-8th-grade IB school in Southern Colorado.
Students at CIMS follow the IB primary and middle years program, which prepares students for high achievement once they advance to high school and beyond. The IB curriculum balances educational offerings for students, as all students have P.E., Spanish, and the arts in addition to the rich IB general education curriculum.
Corwin is also a full uniform school, requiring students to dress their best every day with a dress shirt, dress pants, and tie, which prepares students to be internationally minded. That's the ultimate goal of Corwin – to prepare students to succeed in a rapidly-changing connected world.

About the School Name
Opened in 1953 as Corwin Junior High, the South Side school is named for Dr. Richard Corwin, who arrived in Pueblo in 1881 to establish a medical department that would serve Pueblo and its coal camps.
As director of the Colorado Coal and Iron Company's industrial health clinic for 48 years, Dr. Corwin cared for steel workers' families and other patients and successfully pursued the development of Minnequa Hospital. Upon his death in 1929, the hospital was renamed in his honor and still thrives today as St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center.
A true humanitarian, Dr. Corwin directed the steel mill's Sociological Department, which sponsored classes on hygiene, home economics, cooking, sewing, civics and politics for "the betterment of workers" - many of whom were recent immigrants new to American life.
