District Elementary Fair

STEM 5

Students in Grades 3-5 are eligible for the D60 District Science & Engineering Fair. To participate, your science teacher must nominate your project for the District Fair.

Most students begin their projects in October and work with their teachers on finalizing the project in December. Registration for the top 8 projects per school opens Wednesday, January 1st, 2026 and closes Wednesday, January 28th, 2026.

Judge interviews will be held at CSU-P on Monday, March 2nd, 2026. Families and supporters are invited to the Open House and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 5th, 2026.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

When designing your project, you may choose to use the Scientific Method (research a question and test your hypothesis) OR engage in the Engineering Design Process (define and solve a problem).

Some schools plan to offer time in class or afterschool time for STEM clubs to meet and work on these projects. Check with your science teacher for more details. Otherwise, projects will be completed at home under supervision of a guardian. Elementary students do not need to submit Regional paperwork but will register for the STEM Fair in January as invited by their science teacher.
