District Wellness

District Wellness, housed under nutrition services, supports the whole person by integrating physical health, social-emotional learning, and academic success into the daily school environment. Guided by the Pueblo District 60 Wellness policy, it addresses eight dimensions of wellness, including physical, emotional, and intellectual health, to ensure both students and staff develop the lifelong habits necessary for a purposeful and impactful life.

Role of District Wellness Staff

District Wellness Staff lead wellness initiatives by coordinating the revision and implementation of the district wellness policy. This position manages the district-wide wellness committee, facilitates professional development for physical education staff, and creates wellness challenges. The role also organizes community events and analyzes health data to implement effective solutions.

The Pueblo District 60 Wellness Committee is an action-oriented advisory group dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families.

Mandated by the federal Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, this committee plays a vital role in shaping our school environment.

Commitment and Responsibilities

• Open to staff, students, families, and community members
• 1-hour meetings, 2-4 times a year. 
• Attend meetings and actively participate
• Engage in opportunities to volunteer, contribute to event planning + execution, and attend events

District Wellness empowers our staff to lead healthy, balanced lives through a combination of interactive resources, monthly challenges, and community-building events. We prioritize your professional vitality by offering peer accountability programs that help you build sustainable habits alongside your colleagues.

To support health in the classroom, we provide a variety of specialized equipment, including mobile activity carts and bike-powered blenders, which are available for staff to check out for student movement breaks or nutritious school celebrations. Beyond the school day, our after-hours gatherings and dedicated District Wellness Committee foster a supportive culture where every employee can connect, grow, and thrive.

"District 60 is excited to welcome Mason Evans as our new wellness coordinator! Mason holds a bachelor's degree in public health. His passion for the field was sparked during a youth opportunity with the Colorado State Legislature, where he helped write and propose legislation. Driven by a desire to turn challenges into social solutions, Mason is dedicated to using a holistic, community-based approach to create positive change."
