To be successful in the 21st-century workforce, an education rich in STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — is absolutely vital. STEM is not simply an acronym, but rather a way of teaching and learning that yields valuable skills such as critical thinking, inquiry, problem solving, creativity, innovation, and collaborative teamwork.

From elementary school all the way up to high school, students at Pueblo School District 60's four STEM magnet schools are tasked to solve real-world problems in a hands-on, open-ended way.

Project Lead the Way

Pueblo School District 60 STEM Magnet Schools utilize the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum. As PLTW students progress through grades PreK-12, they are empowered to explore career paths, engage in problem solving and process thinking, develop technical knowledge and skills, and build communication skills.

 

All STEM schools utilize the PLTW curriculum, as does non-STEM Magnet Schools, Franklin School of Innovation, Heaton Middle School and Minnequa Elementary School, which offer some PLTV electives and lessons.
