    CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS MONTH CONTEST

    As October is designated as Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the District hosted its first Cybersecurity Awareness Month Poster and Video Contest. Open to scholars at all grade levels, the competition was designed to promote the safe and secure use of the internet while encouraging students to make better decisions when posting pictures, videos, and personal information online.

    CENTRAL ALUMNUS MITCHELL MAURO HONORED BY GOVERNOR

    Governor Jared Polis and CiviCo, a nonprofit that cultivates civic-minded leaders, today announced the recipients of the 2022 Colorado Governor’s Citizenship Medals, given to people and organizations who inspire excellence and public service. Mitchell Mauro, a 2022 graduate of Central High School now attending the University of Colorado-Denver, received the Emerging Community Leader Medal.

    In its seventh incarnation, Pride and Patriotism once again saw District scholars, from elementary through high school, express their gratitude to those who served – and in many instances continue to serve – in the written word, artistic expression and song.

    ALUMNI ROLL CALL: WILDCAT JEFF VALDEZ

    Today, this resident of Beverly Hills is a celebrated media entrepreneur credited with creating the format now known as Latino Programming in English, and establishing the first television network dedicated to it. From his early days running a Colorado Springs-based comedy club, Mr. Valdez went on to break barriers, and ground, in Hollywood and conversely, around the world.
