    Title I Compact

  • Overview

    Franklin School of Innovation and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high academic standards.

  • Franklin School of Innovation will:

    Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:

    • A safe and engaging learning environment that incorporates PBIS, No Bully, Project Lead the Way, and 2nd Step Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum
    • AVID organizational procedures and instructional strategies
    • Creation of routines and procedures that take a proactive approach to academic and behavior expectations
    • Ongoing professional development for staff to increase effectiveness and meet the needs of all students
    • Personalized, blended learning opportunities allow students to make growth at their own pace
    • Positive Behavior Intervention Support for academic and behavior expectations
    • Provide ongoing formative assessment as well as a summative assessment to ensure all students are achieving growth and success in their academics


    Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.  Specifically, those conferences will be held:

    • Back to School/Title I night in which the compact and Title I Parent Involvement will be discussed
    • Mid-Quarter grade checks at 4-5 weeks
    • Parents can make appointments to speak to teachers about achievement or behavior


    Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.  Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:

    • DIBELS Parent Connect letter
    • Make positive phone calls on academic and behavioral successes
    • Mid-Quarter grade reports
    • Parent Portal Access
    • RtI Meetings for identified students
    • Use student planners daily to communicate with parents and guardians


    Provide parents reasonable access to staff.  Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:

    • Meet and Greet before school to meet teachers and become familiar with school routines and procedures
    • Monthly calendars/newsletters
    • Parent-Teacher Organization meetings
    • School and/or classroom phone messages
    • School Website
    • School Facebook account updated frequently


    Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

    • Complete volunteer background check
    • Involve parents in the annual planning, review, and improvement of the School Parent Involvement Policy
    • Make arrangements with the classroom teacher for a time and specific volunteer activities
    • Make the School Parent Involvement Policy, school Newsletters, and informational literature available in the Parent Resource Center located at the front entrance of the school
    • Sign-in and wear a volunteer badge at all times

     

    Parent Responsibilities

    We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

    • Monitoring attendance
    • Making sure that homework is completed
    • Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school and/or school district either received by my child or by mail and responding, as appropriate
    • Attend parent nights, conferences, and parent meetings concerning your child
    • Sign and adhere to ALL expectations listed on the Enrollment Commitment Form for the Innovation Zone schools, to be distributed in August
    • Treat school staff with care and respect

     

    Student Responsibilities

    We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards.  Specifically, we will:

    • Give to my parents or the adult who is responsible for my welfare all notices and information received by me from the school every day
    • Be respectful to all adults and my peers
    • Come prepared to class every day and ready to learn
    • Follow all school rules
    • Set personal goals for achievement
    • Sign and adhere to ALL expectations listed on the Enrollment Commitment Form for the Innovation Zone schools, to be distributed in August

  • Title One Programs and Plan

    • Inform parents about goals and purposes of Title I, curriculum used in Title I programs, academic assessments used to measure student progress, and proficiency levels students are expected to meet.
    • Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of Title I programs at school.
    • If the Title I Plan is not satisfactory to the parents, submit parent comments on the plan to the district.
    • If requested by parents, provide opportunities for regular meetings where parents may offer suggestions or ask questions.
    • Provide timely responses to parent’s suggestions/questions.
    • Provide assistance to parents, as appropriate, in understanding assessments, Title I requirements, monitoring academic progress, and how to work together to improve student achievement.
