Water Testing Information: 2017-18

  • Pueblo School District 60 and the Board of Waterworks of Pueblo partnered in a proactive effort to ensure we are providing facilities with water that meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) drinking water standards. Water samples were taken from all drinking fountains, kitchen food prep sinks, lounge sinks, and other fixtures used for consuming water in all our schools. This was a major undertaking for our school district.

Although we primarily tested for lead, we also analyzed levels of other elements that can be found in water. Should anything be discovered at levels higher than EPA recommendations, we will take immediate action to disable the water source affected. Alternate options for filtering or providing water will be made available in the event any sources are disabled.

Lead isn’t present in the water Pueblo Water sends to our schools, but lead can get into the water as it moves through lead-containing plumbing and fixtures. While we do not have evidence at this time that our schools have elevated levels of lead in their water supply, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
