Begin School Choice Application

  • TECHNICAL TIPS

YOU CAN USE A SMARTPHONE, TABLET, OR A COMPUTER TO APPLY!

BE SURE THAT POP-UP BLOCKING IS TURNED OFF IN YOUR BROWSER,
The online application opens in a new browser window, but it won't appear if pop-ups are blocked.

  • Before applying, make sure you know the following:

    • School Choice is for students who will be entering grades K through 12

    • The School Choice lottery is not a first-come-first-served process. Submitting your application earlier does not affect the outcome in the lottery, as long as it is submitted before the lottery window closes.

    • While we do our best for each applicant, a School Choice application does not guarantee enrollment in a preferred school. Most schools have a limited number of seats available for new students.

    • Parents will be responsible for providing transportation for their children if they choose to enroll them in a school outside their attendance area.

    • If you submit an application for School Choice during the lottery period, you will be contacted with the results on or before March 3.  You will be contacted through your parent portal and using the email address or phone number you provided in your application.

    • Students who do not win a seat at a preferred school during the lottery period will be placed on waitlists for all of the preferred schools selected. Many students placed on a waitlist are offered seats at one of those schools before the beginning of the new school year.

    • If you submit an application after the School Choice lottery period, the students with schools selected will be placed on wait lists for those schools.  If and when a school determines that they have a seat available for the student, they will contact you directly with an offer.  This can happen any time between mid-March and the start of the school year in the fall.

    • Students who win or accept a seat at a preferred school automatically give up their seats at schools they would have attended otherwise.  The vacated seat is usually awarded or offered to another student.  Only one seat can be reserved for a student.

    • Students who win or accept a seat at a preferred school are not automatically placed on wait lists for any other preferred schools.

    • If you no longer prefer a school you identified on your application, please contact the School Choice office promptly to have it removed or changed.

    • To apply for a seat in a D60 charter school, please contact that school directly or visit their website for guidance.

    • If you need to make changes to a submitted application, please contact the School Choice team at 719-253-6014 or via email at schoolchoice@pueblod60.org for assistance.

Computer Access to complete your application is available at your current school, all public libraries, and the Student Records Office at the D60 Administration Building, 315 W 11th Street.

  • The application requires you to review and confirm or enter normal student registration information, in addition to selecting school preferences for one or more of your children.

If you are having trouble with your parent portal and are trying to submit an application before a deadline, you always have the option of using the "NEW D60 FAMILY" version of the application.  It requires more data entry for current D60 families, but it bypasses any portal access issues.
