South High Gym Project
-
A group of South High Alumni and others have proposed a private fund-raising initiative to build a second gymnasium at South High School. The "South High Gym Project" was presented to the Pueblo City Schools Board of Education by the South High Administration in the Spring of 2015. The Board granted permission for the project to move forward.
The new facility would become South's primary gym. It would dramatically increase physical education possibilities, as well as end the issue of securing gym space for team practices, or traveling to larger venues for playoff games.
The Pueblo South Alumni Foundation is endorsing the effort. It has agreed to oversee a bank account to hold funds under its 501 (c)(3) status. The estimated project cost is $1.7 million.
The new gym would be built utilizing privately raised community funds and partnerships with general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. To date, Ken West and Scott Robb, Houston Construction; Dave Caporicci, Best Block; Laurie Clark, Clark Engineering; Anthony Nunez; Musso Excavating, Stout Masonry; GCC America; Kelly Tucker, Morgan Stanley, are committed to partnership in this endeavor. The Pueblo South High Alumni Foundation will accept tax deductible contributions from donors, and turn the monies over to the school district when sufficient funds are collected.
Please consider contributing any amount you can to ensure the continued viability of South High School athletics in supporting this project. Fill out the form located below, and mail to: Pueblo South High School Alumni Foundation, PO Box 1065, Pueblo, CO 81002.
Thank you, and GO COLTS!
