  • District Volunteers Donate Time to Second-Dose Vaccination Clinic

    The work that brought out the D60 team of volunteers was yet another crucial step in the return to fully in-person instruction: administration of the second, and final, dose of the Pfizer COVID vaccine. Recognizing the importance of the task at hand, the district representatives served in a variety of non-medical roles to ensure a seamless, and hope-filled, operation.

  • A Birthday is a Great Day, and a Great Way, to Say, 'Hey! Books are A-OK'

    Across the district, Read Across America Week, which annually coincides with the birthday of Theodor “Dr. Suess” Geisel, saw D60 students revel in the wealth of activities and specially themed days designed to add a fun component to the pro-literacy campaign. As is tradition, a number of district and community notables, from Superintendent Charlotte Macaluso to Sheriff Kirk Taylor to Mayor Nick Gradisar, donned the famous “Cat in the Hat” headware and read their favorite Dr. Seuss book.

  • Think Pink: How Quirky Socks are Reinforcing Unity at Belmont Elementary

    The "pinksocks" community is 100,000-strong: people from all walks of life united in changing the world from the ground up through socks adorned with mustaches, in honor of Mr. Adkins affinity for facial hair, and puzzle pieces that represent the inter-connectedness of the human race.
