  • EAST’S PROSTART RESTAURANT GETS A $5,000 BOOST

    Located inside East High School and run by Janae Passalaqua’s ProStart students, the Golden Eagle Restaurant is poised for a post-pandemic comeback. When the doors again open to East educators and staff intent on a delicious student-prepared meal, the operation will boast new equipment as well as complete industry uniforms – chef jackets, pants, shoes, aprons and hats – for the student staff.   • 22 SUMMER SCHOOL SCHOLARS REWARDED WITH DIPLOMAS

    22 hard-working and persevering Summer School scholars accepted the fruits of their efforts in the form of a high school diploma. The commencement ceremony at Paragon Learning Center saw diplomas conferred on those seniors from the District’s 5 high schools who during June and July completed the credits needed to graduate.

  • ALUMNI ROLL CALL: JEFF CHOSTNER’S RISE TO SUCCESS DEEPLY ROOTED IN THE DISTRICT

    After a decorated 22-year stint in the Air Force, where he distinguished himself in the Judges Advocate General Corps, the retired Colonel returned to his hometown, where he continued to win elections and serve the populace: first as a City Councilman, then as a County Commissioner and, in the office he has occupied since 2012, District Attorney for the 10th Judicial District.

  • ALUMNI ROLL CALL: RICK MACIAS MADE SPORTS, YOUNG PEOPLE HIS LIFE

    Coinciding with his retirement after 36 years of service as a teacher, coach and administrator – the past decade-plus as Athletic Director – Rick Macias was bestowed with a Lifetime Achievement Award. It was a timely and fitting reward for a man who dedicated his life to the growth of young men and women in the athletic competition arena.
